7. When & where will students practice their pieces during camp hours?
There will be scheduled practice times and plenty of practice rooms for students. Music halls will be available for use as long as they are open.
Specific Program Requirements
8. Can students request duet partners? How about duet pieces?
If students would like to request their duet partner, the two of them must be accepted to the festival and indicate such preferences in their application forms. Duet pieces will be assigned by the Academy unless prior duet repertoire has been requested in the application process.
9. How well does the student have to prepare the duet piece by the start of the camp? Do duet partners need to rehearse before the start of camp?
Students will have at least two months to learn their duet piece; they should be fluent enough to rehearse with their partners during camp. Prior rehearsal before camp begins is encouraged, but not at all required.
10. Can students perform duet pieces in the final concert?
Absolutely. Students are welcome and encouraged to present their duets in the final performance.
11. I see that you have a composition/improvisation class. Will there be a chance for me to showcase my own work in the final concert?
Of course! Students are free to present their own compositions created from the improvisation/composition class.
12. Is everyone required to perform in the final concert?
Unless prior notice is given, every camper is expected to perform in the final concert.
